Date Night, what to do?

It is amazing when a guy thinks he does not have to do anything special or surprise their girlfriends or even wives with inventive date nights because they feel that their significant other is satisfied with everything and hold the "don't fix it cause it ain't broken" attitude comes into play in most long term relationships. Most of the time the significant other whether it be or girl or guy is always looking for that special date night where things are out of the ordinary and not predictable and stagnant.

It might be safe to say that it has become very difficult for girls or guys to feel so flattered or special when going on a date with guys these days because the media and the entertainment business has created huge expectations for their significant other to fulfill. Take for example, the stroll on a beach and have a dinner or picnic over looking the ocean or taking that special someone to a drive through movie and sharing some milk shakes or rootbeer floats and popcorn. It is even more difficult when people face hard times such as losing a job or just noticing that prices are just so ridiculously expensive that inhibits couples from going on dates or having fun together.

I am writing this in response to the " we don't do anything anymore" or the "you use to do this when we first started dating, but since we've been together for so long that you have lost the spark to impress me or sweep me off my feet to remind me how much I mean to you or how much I am wanted." I do not believe that comfort is a legitimate excuse for not doing anything romantic for their significant other. Nor do I consider "oh I have not time, I must work because bills just keep on coming" or "I have just been so busy" excuses because really it does not take much to show someone you really care and appreciate them.

The following are simple ways to show much one cares for another:

1. If you haven't said "I love you" in a long time just take some thread and an old t-shirt and sew I Luv U on it instead of sending the flowers if you are normally the traditional flower sender.

2. Making a comic book with a story plot of how like you save the day and save your significant other from utter destruction or from the evil bad guys.

3. Fill a coffee mug with their favorite childhood candies (IE: gum drops, lemon drops, gummy bears and write or put a gift tag on the handle with instructions to indulge in the youthful sweets because being with them has kept them young at heart and happy to be in love with them).

4. Make a flip book asking your significant other for permission for a kiss or giving their significant other a flower (just be creative and make something or give something unexpectedly romantic or meaningful).

Basically anything you end up doing or making has to take some thought and creativity and not to rush the whole delivering of the date or gift whatever it may be. Just like when one sees a pretty gift wrapped in expensive paper and accented with a matching bow entices the recipient to want to open the gift with vigor instead if they see just a gift wrapped up in newspaper or just unwrapped and just lazily open or accepts the gift. It does not take lots of money to do something kind or sweet for another person, it is the thought behind the gift or date and the execution to deliver the special gestures is the key to making the significant other know how much one cares for them.

The following are great gift ideas:

1. Homemade love or promise bracelet

2. A locket with a special prayer, verse from the scripture, funny inside joke, meaningful word pertaining to the relationship or the person (IE: Patience)

3. Travel guide with your couple pictures or faces pasted in locations one wishes to visit or has visited together

4. A special customized journal made from mixed hand picked stationary or hand made decorated pages

5. Make a good quality puzzle relationship book

6. Make a pop-up card and sing a love song when he or she opens the card or just recite a love poem and have the card say look into my eyes and see how I feel with the words I have picked to depict how I feel and appreciate you and then finish the rest of the verse holding hands (this for sure will catch one off guard).

7. Leave a pretty petite vase with one flower with a cute note saying Look under the vase and to their surprise the message says " Love comes in different colors and in different forms just like this one flower that I picked for my Love" or "you are looking lovely as always here's a lovely flower for my love" or just write "I love you" or "Love in different translations"

Just give a gift that is one of a kind, useful, sweet sometimes silly but tastefully done. A gift does not have to be expensive it is really all about the thought behind the gift and the use of the gift that truly matters.

"Love the time, Love the quality and Love thee even more"
