23rd Birthday

When I started brainstorming about how I should celebrate my 23rd birthday I thought about going to Disneyland, but then I realized that not everyone I knew had an annual pass. Then I thought again, and decided to just have a dinner at the house with friends and family because it would have been easier for everyone's wallet =) Plus it allowed me to try out some new dishes.

Thinking about me turning 23 did not really register in my brain because I still perceived myself as being very young. Yet, I still get carded to buy medicine, alcohol and for rated R movies, thus demonstrating that the Asian genes are so dominant and masks one's true physical age.

As my previous Teaching Assistant said it, "We are going to love this youthful curse cause when we are 50+ we won't look it and everyone will just be jealous of us." It is just going to be difficult when we get older and have children because all the other women will just judge that we are unwed teenage mothers, when we are in our thirties.

I decided to do something different instead of having the traditional cake and ice cream, I decided to bake a giant cookie and put ice cream on it, just like those giant pizookies from BJ's. Everyone said it was awesome, so I am glad every last bite was consumed.

One of the most memorable thing about my party was playing taboo with my high school friends and boyfriends friends because we decided to create our own homemade taboo cards. My boyfriends team called the Colonoscopy made these ridiculous cards that made my high friends' team the warriors to just cry in defeat. Basically the cards were so difficult that the vocabulary could have been taken from the GRE examinations. Never the less the homemade game of Taboo was very fun and memorable.

A second memorable moment was when Gerard delivered balloons as part of my birthday gift, I was absolutely surprised and happy to receive such a cute and thoughtful gift. He also got me a new journal, a book to read (since I have the free time to do so) and my favorite candy bar BabyRuth. My friends all gave me thoughtful gifts, warm cozy slippers, picture frames, charm bracelet (Thanks Jenna and Emily) cute paper weights (Thanks Joyce) a warm sweater (Thanks Andy) and absolutely generous gift card and delicious chicken dishes (Thanks Eugene) and a gift card to CPK (Thanks Mark). In addition, I loved the pictures that Philip took with his gawdly awesome camera.
