Hand Written Letters

Has the world lost its art form of hand written letters? Perhaps, maybe, just because everyone has gotten so used to AIMing and text messaging has become the norm or perhaps because typing is faster, neater and easier to read. I just think the best letters are hand written just because it shows how someone would put a lot of thought into putting words on paper using the old fashion pen, instead of keys and an laser printer. Like someone has to carefully decide the order of words right before committing them on to paper, since there is no back space or delete buttons. Although, the typed up letter does say the same words, it just does not deliver the same caliber of emotion as a hand written letter. Anyone can type to their friends, but can anyone really write a true old fashion love letter, or a real meaning poem to their grandmother without actually hitting the back space button? Most people spend hours at the computer screen to do work so does that give the same meaning towards writing a letter to a love one? Does it save more time to type a letter? Or should people hand write those meaningful letters to their loved ones and friends because it shows the effort and time one took to mold their words into a master piece?

However, I must confess, I use to write to friends and family using the hand written letters, but unfortunately I stopped writing those letters because the people I use to write to did not have the time to replay back. I end up sending e-mails just because it is more convenient, but I have those rare moments where I make home made cards or letters and send them to friends and family whenever I feel like spoiling them with my words of encouragement or applause for their outstanding achievements. I just feel that typing speeds up life more, instead of taking the time to really feel the writing.

Although I blog, I still have a traveling leather journal, where I still have the opportunity to hand write my thoughts, but then I notice how my mood changes from paragraph to paragraph and how some days my writing is very neat and other days very rushed, thus revealing more depths of my character with every word written in cursive. I guess it just depends whether or not people have the time to hand write or just to type a letter, perhaps it is just a good thing to even write in general.

Maybe, people do not hand write their letters as much is because everyone has the habit of typing e-mails, reports and other documents that writing has become absolute, just for the brain storming and not for anything with real meaning and creativity, just for the side notes and non coherent thoughts or messages.
